Certification test = done. Life resumes. I only left the house yesterday to run. I was starting to feel like a shut in. I get my results back in 6-8 weeks (!!!!) so my plan is to just not worry too much. Now? Now to get back on my nutrition kick. More protein. Keep running, add lifting. My tummy still hurts from my planks over the weekend!

7 miles in 1:06
T’was supposed to be a tempo run, but my legs are still a little unhappy, apparently. 2 miles slow, ~10 min/mile, 3 fast(er), ~9 min/mile, then 2 more slow. I didn’t do much speedwork before and I can see why it helps. Between intervals Monday and an attempt at speediness today, I’ve put more thought and mental effort into my runs. I’m looking forward to getting into the...

After volleyball last night, the team went out (and two husbands tagged along). My BF couldn’t go, and I didn’t want to stay long anyway. They usually order a couple things to share: pizza, basket of fries and a basket of chips. I had a couple chips and my one light beer and headed out early. True, for weight loss purposes I shouldn’t have had either, but I knew I was ok on...

Maintenance schedule
Since I started running a year ago (!!!), I’ve been training for this race or that race. Yesterday started a two month maintenance schedule that has me running 24 or 25 miles per week. I’m not technically training for anything until my first marathon in May, but I’d like to start the training program on 1/1/12 with a healthy base! These two weeks alternate until the end of the...

4 mile run
38 mins. Started great, wore out a little at the end. My thighs are still sore to the touch, but I don’t dread stairs quite the same today. Hopefully tomorrow is back to normal!

You know how I know I ran hard at Sunday's race?
I’m still sore today. But at least I can go down stairs without clutching at the railing.

I’m so sore today. Somehow I need to function at volleyball tonight. Running, jumping, lunging, and squatting do NOT sound like fun. At all

Towpath Half Marathon Results
In May, I ran my first half marathon in 2:03:13. I knew I could do better, but gave it my best effort that day and was VERY pleased with my finish time. Second HM over the weekend, I wanted to finish in 1:59, which would require under a 9:10 pace. Honestly, I just didn’t know if I’d be able to. But I knew I would be close! I changed my Garmin display to show avg pace and current...

HM Day
So behind on reading tumblrs. Been a little busy running half marathons and smashing PRs. Crashing early - glad to see how well everyone did in their races this weekend!

24 hours til the Half
I woke up early so I’m hopefully tired early. I nearly overslept for my 10 mile race in August, so I’m building in more alarm redundancies tomorrow. 5:00 am wake up call for an 8:00 am start time. Always seems a little silly to me! Good luck to everyone racing today and tomorrow!

Erin Does Life.: Tribute to the 5+ hour... →
runningwithguts: erindoeslife: - From “Marathoning for Mortals,” John Bingham and Jenny Hadfield, which you should buy right now. When I first read this passage three years ago, I was training for my first marathon and driven by the fear of not finishing within my marathon’s 6:15 time limit, which broke down to a… GPOY-in-4ish-weeks.

Blah workout
Volleyball was a bust tonight. Our 6 fab gals against 4 not so fab gals. Not really a workout. Tis taper week, so I played a workout video from Netflix. It was a 10 minute solutions dance party mix, so I did 2.5 10 minute segments. It reminded me that I USED to be good at following choreography and that I’m a sucky sucky dancer. I cheated and did burpees, high knees and jumping jacks...

On my 6 mile run last night I scared the crap outta 3 deer meandering through my neighborhood. I was afraid they would mistake me for one of them and try to run with me. Apparently, no worries on that one! Running at night is dangerous!

I hit over 100 miles in September!
May 64.3 June 44 (slacking!!) July 69.9 August 73 September 117.4 The highest week in September was 32 miles - I could get used to that, but my legs definitely needed a break. 25 miles last week, 6 miles tonight (just below) race pace @ 8:48. Getting a little worried about holding a 9:00 for 13.1 miles. Race in 6 days!
