9.5 miles
Some days you can find the motivation to get up and run. Some days you just have to go into autopilot, get dressed, and head out of the door. I AM so glad I did. It was one of those I-feel-like-I’m-flying runs. One week and one and a half days until the half. I probably should have stopped at 8 today as planned, but it was just such a fun run. I swear I’m more sore tonight than I...

Trying to convince myself to get off my warm couch and run 8 miles.

My legs need a break!
I’ve been running really consistently, but after hitting 32 miles last week, my legs just aren’t keeping up. Every run at race pace is a little bit of a struggle for my muscles (but strangely my avg heart rate is around 144) so I’m taking tapering seriously. 12 miles for the week so far, 8 mile long run planned for Friday or Saturday, recovery run the day after. Two short runs...

5 miles in 48:30 with hills!
I’m not gonna lie you guys… I’ve done very few speed workouts this summer. I hardly did any before my first HM, too. Tonight was my first hill workout, but since I am still a little sore from Saturday’s 13-miler, I picked the wimpier of the two hills in my neighborhood. 6 repeats with warm-up and cool down - done! HM countdown: 12 days!

13.1 miles
I started at 8am this morning, about 11 hours after I finished running 10k the night before. Smart? No, probably not. But I did it and STILL maintained a 10 min mile. Ate waaaay too much afterward. 2 weeks til the half. 32 miles this week and I’m sure I’m close to 100 miles for the month. This week? Something like 20-25. We’ll see.

6.22 miles in 54:45
I unintentionally got pretty close to my 10k PR (53:56 - which I could totally smash now since that was an awful hot, muggy day) and I have renewed faith that I can finish my HM in two weeks in under 2 hours. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it.

My new boss must know I'm stressed with life right...
He came by and told me to take off a little early this afternoon since the next two weeks will be “hell”. Tis true, but I’m used to accounting world by now. What I’m not used to is life. Tuesday morning, my mom had new countertops installed, so Sunday and Monday I was fixing cabinets and uninstalling old counters to save $$. Tuesday night - volleyball. Thursday...

Short Mom: CALLING ALL TUMBLR'S!!! →
fat-to-fast: PLEASE help me with a school project. In one of my nutrition classes, we’re studying effects on relationships with food, exercise, and body image. I have a survey that I need 500 responses for…eek! It would be AWESOME if I can get you all to TAKE MY SURVEY! If you do…

I haven't woken up this early since my last race!
I think its funny that I wake up earlier to run races (and sometimes just for long runs) than I do for work. Today, though, my alarm went off at 5:30am so I could go into work early. Bonus? Hopefully I can leave at 4:15 instead of my normal 5:30. 6 miles on the schedule for tonight. I love running. My 4 miles last night were pretty tough. I went out to run ‘moderately hard’ but...

4 quick-ish miles in 35
Quick sandwich, quick prep time, then quickly driving to volleyball so I’m not late! First indoor session of my women’s team. Looking forward to meeting our new teammates and getting some good hits in!

12.1 miles done!
By the time I was done, I would have been happy in shorts and a tank top. But alas, I started in capris and a long sleeve shirt. Thank goodness I had a t-shirt on too and could tie the long one around my waist. I’m always surprised how easy these long runs are. I thought it would be harder on my own, but the time seems to go faster sans RB and tunes. 12.1 in 1:59:36. In 3 weeks I’m...

It’s been awhile since I ran when it was that cold - I can’t remember how much clothing to wear! I’m going to decide to not decide yet: I’ll do my work from home that I need to get done and wait for it to warm up a little. Brr.

5 mile trail run with a trail running group
Trail runners are a different breed. It was AWESOME though. Some parts were like a Stairmaster, some parts were like tires, and other parts just kept you on your toes. My RB had some difficulty, but we finished 5 in 1:03. I’d love to try it with that group without the RB… They seemed friendly and were a good group of runners. 12 tomorrow. 25+ mile weeks are feeling good. I’m...

Running groups
My RB and I are crashing a group run tonight. They are trail runners and get together for 5 miles and dinner every Thursday. It’ll be my first time with a group and will hopefully be fun/interesting and I’d like to meet another potential running buddy, too. I love my current RB, but our paces are different and she irritates the crap outta my BF and our group of friends. I’m...

4 miles last night
4 awful, awful miles. I had noticed the scale creeping up to 162 from 158 (when the damn thing was supposed to be going DOWN) so I counted calories Tues thru Friday, and tried to stay around 1800. No good, no good at all. I started my run feeling like achy molasses. Then came the out-of-body detached feeling. Then the sluggishness, similar to being at the end of a 12 mile run sans food. I felt...

3.3 miles last night
I don’t know what my problem is; I think its like sunset coming HOURS earlier. I have had a really hard time getting out to run the past couple days. Volleyball tonight, short run Friday (hopefully, might end up being a pre-work run), long run Saturday.

6.5 miles
63 minutes. I tried for a tempo run, but I have an easier time keeping whatever pace is most comfortable in the first half mile and sticking with it. I’ll check the Garmin graphs to see how I did. Now off to make breakfasts (egg sandwiches!) and lunches out of the pot roast I cooked in the crock pot last night. Short run tomorrow, volleyball tournament Thursday!

Wedding weekend
After a lovely (and large) rehearsal dinner at a local Italian restaurant, I felt gross. I waited a little bit and went for a run on the hotel treadmill. 5k, 30 mins, and only 6 fights with the treadmill about speed. I feel better, but I don’t do treadmills. Now, the BF and I are off to bed. Hair & makeup at 10am. We bridesmaids have it much easier than the super stressed bride!

10 miles in 1:42!
A little slower than intended, but if my half goal pace is a 9min/mile, then my long run should be 1 to 1 1/2 a minute slower, right? Maybe next time, no speedy run (or volleyball) 12 hours beforehand, mmmkay?
Sep 2nd
I woke myself up at 5:58 am. Alarm goes off at 6. I actually got out of bed and ate breakfast. I’m up and out of bed earlier on my day off than I’ve been up for work this week. Obviously I have my priorities straight! I had a failed 10-mile run Wednesday. I think I had a GI bug this past week and my guts were just in knots and taking my breath away. Somehow I got 3 miles from the...
